After the death of King Karl XIV Johan, King Oskar I commissioned an equestrian statue depicting the entry of the crown prince into Stockholm in 1810. The statue was unveiled in 1854 at Slussen. As a result of reconstruction of the Slussen area, the statue has been moved to the Royal Palace of Stockholm and there, it has been renovated before its rededication.
