75th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Portsmouth

On Southsea Common in Portsmouth, where much of the landing force left for Normandy, Queen Elizabeth II and The Prince of Wales attended a National Commemorative Event to mark the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings. The Queen made a speech thanking all those who had taken part in the landings as the commemorations drew to a close.The Queen, The US President and Prince Charles had just met with six veterans who fought on D-Day following the grand commemoration ceremony in Portsmouth today. At a small lunch reception also attended by world leaders including Theresa May and Emmanuel Macron.
