Their Majesties began their planned visits to all the Autonomous Communities with a day trip to Gran Canaria and Tenerife. This is to support the recovery of social, economic and citizen activity following the COVID-19 lockdown. They commenced their tour of the Spanish archipelago with a visit to Pérez Galdós House-Museum located in the central Triana neighbourhood, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The museum's function is the conservation, study and dissemination of the legacy of Benito Pérez Galdós, a Spanish realist novelist. The Spanish King and The Queen moved to Playa de las Canteras to tour the promenade greeting members of the public and visited the Santa Catalina Royal Hideaway Hotel where they met with employees and held a meeting with representatives of the tourism sector.
