The World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa was held at the Dead Sea in Jordan on 21-23 May 2015. Convening under the theme Shaping a New Strategic Context, more than 800 government, business and civil society leaders from more than 50 countries were expected to participate. Taking place at a pivotal time, the meeting focused on new developments and institution-building efforts of countries in the Levant and North Africa, which were creating important momentum for regional and cross-regional trade and investment with countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as with the United States, Europe and Asia. These developments, addressed in the context of significant geopolitical realignments in response to security and humanitarian challenges in Iraq, Syria and Libya, and also in light of the fundamental transformations in the energy and technology sectors, which were reshaping business models and economies. Since the meeting was first held at the Dead Sea in 2003, it has had the continued support and participation of Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah and the Government of Jordan. This year’s meeting was further build on Jordan’s unique and central role in the region.
