A visit to Galicia

 QUEEN LETIZIA

 SPAIN
The King and Queen attended the traditional ceremony to pay tribute to the memory of the Apostle Santiago or St James. This year, the traditional religious ceremony took place at the monastery of San Martiño Pinario due to the current renovation of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Many people in Spain celebrate the life and deeds of James, son of Zebedee, on Saint James' Day (Santiago Apostol), which is on July 25. Saint James' Day is a public holiday in the autonomous communities of the Basque Country and Galicia. July 25th is also Galicia Day, which is fitting as St. James is the patron saint of Galicia as well as Spain.
