The annual COTEC Report is prepared by the Cotec Foundation for Innovation of which King Felipe VI is the honorary president. It is a private non-profit organisation whose aim is to promote innovation as an engine for economic and social development. During the presentation, it was explained that the current pandemic and its effects make it even more evident that science and innovation are fundamental for fighting against global crises and great social challenges.
